High Court Takes Action on Stray Dog Attacks
The High Court has taken serious notice of the rising incidents of attacks by stray dogs on children and pedestrians. In a proactive move, the court has initiated action on its own accord and instructed Advocate General Rajendra Prasad to respond on behalf of the state government regarding this pressing issue.
The bench, led by Justice Indrajit Singh and Justice Bhuvan Goyal, issued this directive after thoroughly reviewing recent news reports about alarming dog bite incidents. They expressed their concern over the increasing number of stray dogs in their own neighborhoods, which has been causing significant problems for local residents.
Media reports have highlighted a series of frequent attacks on children and pedestrians, raising public alarm. In one recent incident, a five-year-old child was notably attacked by a stray dog, underscoring the urgent need for action. Despite numerous complaints filed by affected residents, officials responsible for managing the stray dog population have yet to take meaningful action.
In contrast, the state of Kerala has successfully implemented comprehensive laws to address the issue of stray dogs effectively, thereby safeguarding its citizens. This has prompted the High Court to direct the Advocate General to investigate the matter with urgency and suggest actionable solutions to mitigate the threat posed by stray dogs.
Moreover, to facilitate legal proceedings in this case, advocate Prateek Kasliwal has been appointed as a legal friend to assist the court. The Advocate General has also indicated that other similar pending cases will be consolidated to ensure efficient handling and resolution of the stray dog issue, aiming to improve safety for all residents.
