Breaking Taboos, Empowering Women - Hindustan Zinc Champions Menstrual Hygiene Awareness
A month-long campaign aimed at sensitizing and spreading awareness around women’s health and hygiene across its operations covering Zawar, Dariba, Agucha, Kayad and PantNagar
1200+ Individuals were sensitized including women & children through Shiksha Sambal summer camps debunking myths, addressing taboos, and shedding light on the science behind menstruation on Menstrual Hygiene Day
The significance of menstrual hygiene awareness extends far beyond individual well-being and it stands as a cornerstone of public health and gender parity. By fostering conversations, one can not only empower individuals to prioritize their health but also dismantle entrenched societal taboos and biases. Hindustan Zinc reaffirming its commitment towards community healthcare, commemorated the Menstrual Hygiene Day with a robust initiative and a month- long campaign aimed at sensitizing and spreading awareness around women’s health and hygiene across its operations.
Under the Swasthya Sewa program, Hindustan Zinc conducted awareness and sensitization sessions in its surrounding communities including Rudrapur - Uttarakhand, Kayad, Zawar, Agucha and Dariba. More than 1200 Individuals were impacted through the sessions conducted at Government schools as part of the Shiksha Sambal Summer Camps, enlightened students about menstrual hygiene. Additionally, Sakhi women of Sakhi Self Help Group ( SHGs) received valuable insights from government hospital ANMs and Zinc hospital doctors.
These sessions were not merely informative but transformative, debunking myths, addressing taboos, and shedding light on the science behind menstruation. From discussing nutrition needs during periods to fostering a sense of comfort and confidence in young girls and women, the initiative aimed at enhancing overall well-being and dignity. Through the collective efforts of employees, medical professionals, and partners, the campaign reached beneficiaries from diverse backgrounds, reaffirming the company's commitment to community health and empowerment.
