Land Mafia Violates High Court Orders in Udaipur

The High Court has previously issued clear directives to protect lakes, ponds, and hills

Land mafias are blatantly violating High Court orders at Baghla Talab near Eklingji and the surrounding hills. Despite clear directives from the High Court, the situation continues to worsen, raising serious concerns among local residents and authorities.

The Panchayat has been granting approvals arbitrarily, allowing construction on hilltops. Officials have also issued licenses for cutting down these hills. This activity is affecting the catchment area, which is vital for the region's water supply.

On the Udaipur-Nathdwara road, a land businessman has begun constructing villas in the lower areas, using the Khatedari hills as cover. Daily bulldozer operations are levelling parts of these hills, threatening the local ecosystem. Villagers report that many other Khatedari hills in the area are also being targeted by land mafias.

Furthermore, on Nagda road, illegal excavation is taking place in front of the Sahasra Bahu temple. Land mafias are cutting into the hills to create unauthorized pathways.

The High Court has previously issued clear directives to protect lakes, ponds, and hills. Despite this, officials and the Panchayat continue to issue approvals that contradict these regulations.

As a result, many outsiders are now investing in the area, further violating the established rules regarding the protection of hills and lakes. This ongoing situation calls for immediate attention and action from relevant authorities to uphold the law and protect the environment.
