UMC Closed Toy Train Ticket Counter Gate

The toy train is experiencing a significant decline in revenue due to the gate closure...

On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the Udaipur Municipal Corporation took a decisive step to address concerns at the Gulab Bagh toy train station. The entrance gate to the ticket counter, located in front of Samor Bagh, was secured with a chain and padlock. Although pedestrians can still pass through, vehicle access has been restricted.

This measure was implemented under the directive of Mayor GS Tank. The decision came in response to a complaint lodged about 15 days ago, alleging that employees of Shiva Corporation India Limited, which operates the toy train, were illegally charging parking fees from visitors.

Following a personal inspection, Mayor Tank verified the complaint's validity and chose to shut down the gate. This move has had a notable impact on toy train ticket sales.

On September 3, 440 tickets were sold, but the following day, September 4, sales reduced to just 89 tickets. The toy train, which typically has the capacity to sell up to 2,700 tickets daily, is experiencing a significant decline in revenue due to the gate closure.

Aniruddh Singh, a representative of Shiva Corporation, suggested that CCTV cameras on-site could clear up the matter. He urged the Municipal Corporation to review the camera footage.
