Imported Sputnik V vaccine costs 995 rupees per shot

It has been informed that price of the imported vaccine is likely to go down once local supply begins in the country. 

The 1st consignment of the imported vaccine received regulatory clearance from Central Drugs Laboratory, Kasauli.

The first dose of imported Sputnik V vaccine was administered in Hyderabad. The imported vaccine stands at 995 rupees per dose and the price is likely to be reduced once the local supply begins in the country, as informed by Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

The 1st consignment of the vaccine that came to India on 1st May received regulatory clearance from Central Drugs Laboratory, Kasauli on 13th May. The MRP of the vaccine is 948 rupees with 5 percent GST per dose. More consignments will arrive in India over the upcoming months. 

The vaccine was given emergency use authorisation by the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) in April. The vaccine will be available in markets across Indian from early next week, as informed by the Union Ministry of Health. The local production of the vaccine will begin in July 2021.

Sputnik V vaccine, first approved in Russia on August 11, 2020, is widely considered the first vaccine against the viral disease. It has an efficacy of 91.6%, according to the Lancet Medical Journal. It will be the third vaccine to be in use in India.
