Indian Army Tank – Vijayanta Arrived in Udaipur

Udaipur is a new home for Vijayanta - a retired Main Battle Tank (MBT) of the Indian Army, which was brought to Lake City on Friday morning. The tank had been transported from Jaipur.

 
Udaipur is a new home for Vijayanta – a retired Main Battle Tank (MBT) of the Indian Army, which was brought to Lake City on Friday morning. The tank had been transported from Jaipur. It is currently placed at the B.N College compound, which is definitely going to turn the campus into a center of attraction. This gigantic 39,000kg army tank served in the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, and served Indian Army from 1965 till 2008. Vijayanta was originally manufactured by Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd, a British Company. Later on, the production was done in India. The authorities at Udaipur had been trying to procure this tank since the last two years. Today, they have finally achieved their goal. The Vijayanta MBT will be useful for helping NCC cadets train and practice, which was also the main purpose of transporting it to Udaipur. Vijayanta MBT is also placed outside the Indian National War Memorial in Pune, Maharashtra. IN NEWS
