The Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme's workday requirement was raised by the Rajasthani government from 100 to 125 days. The Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme's proposed increase in the number of days of work has been accepted by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.
The change, for which the government would spend Rs. 1100 crore, will take into force on April 1 2023. The Rajasthan Employment Guarantee Plan intends to give urban jobless people an additional 25 days of work. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Program and the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme are quite similar.
The Congress government's Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Program, introduced by Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during the budget for 2022–2023 last year, is hailed as the nation's largest programme to provide guaranteed employment to individuals living in cities.
Those between the ages of 18 and 60 who reside in the local area would be registered in accordance with the new rules under the proposed programme using their Jan Aadhaar cards. The work will be accepted and carried out through the committees at the state, district, and body levels in order to complete the tasks that are allowed under the programme.
According to MGNREGS, the labourers would get money for their efforts within 15 days in their bank accounts. The workers will also have facilities at their job. Three pay levels are offered to those hired via the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme: Rs 259 per day for unskilled labourers, Rs 283 per day for skilled labourers, and Rs 271 per day for supervisors.
