Jaipur Airport Resumes Hand-Carriage Facility for Jewellery Exports
Resumption of this permission is expected to benefit exporters, trade participants, and Jaipur’s gem and jewellery sector
July 15, 2025 - Jaipur Airport has resumed the hand-carriage facility for jewellery exports, allowing jewellers to personally carry their goods for international trade. This facility, which was previously discontinued in 2019, has been restarted after seven years following a notification from the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs,
Under the Foreign Trade Policy, this permission has been granted for jewellery export from Jaipur Airport.
With this, hand carriage facilities are now available at nine airports across India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Coimbatore, and Jaipur.
The initiative aims to streamline jewellery trade and benefit exporters by enabling them to carry jewellery samples and prototypes along with them for international exhibitions and business meetings. Previously, jewellers had to rely on airlines to ship their jewellery, which could take longer and involve more logistical complexities.
It is expected to boost Jaipur’s gem and jewellery trade and offer major relief to exporters participating in exhibitions and expos.
