Udaipur Lake Lovers Urged to Tackle Aquatic Pollution in Pichola Lake
They wrote a letter to Udaipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner
In a concerted effort to combat aquatic pollution in Udaipur's iconic Pichola Lake, a group of concerned citizens, known as the Lake Lovers, has penned a letter to Udaipur Municipal Corporation Commissioner.
According to Tej Shankar Paliwal, a prominent member of the group, the contract for the dividing machine, crucial for removing pollutants from the lake, expired in late January, 2024. Since then, manual labourers have been tasked with the job of cleaning the lake, which is plagued by over eight different types of pollutants.
One particularly alarming situation highlighted in the letter concerns Kumhariya Lake, where algae plant has spread over the entire pond, posing a significant threat to the local ecosystem. The encroachment of floating aquatic weeds further exacerbates the issue, necessitating the immediate deployment of a dividing machine to clear the surface.
The Lake Lovers plea underscores the urgency of the situation and calls upon the Municipal Commissioner to take swift and decisive action to preserve the ecological integrity of Pichola Lake.
