Wildlife enthusiasts and tourists alike await the upcoming Lion Safari experience

In a significant development for wildlife lovers and tourists, Udaipur's Sajjangarh Biological Park is gearing up to introduce a thrilling Lion Safari, allowing visitors to witness the majestic roar of lions up close. This will mark the city's second Lion Safari after Jaipur, as the Forest Department successfully secured approval from the esteemed Central Zoo Authority (CZA). With an allocated budget of approximately 1 crore 85 lakh, the eagerly anticipated Lion Safari promises to be a captivating addition to Udaipur's wildlife offerings. Wildlife enthusiasts and city dwellers alike are eagerly looking forward to this remarkable wildlife experience, set to enchant visitors with the mesmerizing presence of these magnificent creatures amidst their natural habitat.

The Forest Department is all set to commence construction on the land adjacent to Sajjangarh Century, near the Bio Park, in preparation for the expansion of the Lion Safari. Initially, four lions will be accommodated, with plans to gradually increase their numbers. The authorities are already in the process of seeking permission from the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) to facilitate the addition of more lions. The strategy involves introducing new lions in pairs, ensuring a balanced mix of males and females, which will serve a dual purpose. Not only will this approach enhance the breeding potential of the lions, contributing to their conservation efforts, but it will also enrich the visitor experience by observing these magnificent creatures in their natural social structure.

Deputy Forest Officer at CCF Wildlife Sanctuary, Shaitan Singh Deora has announced plans to build a Lion Safari spread across 25 hectares. The safari will feature large enclosures, and the allocated budget for this project is Rs 185 lakh. The first step will involve preparing a physical blueprint for the Safari before starting the tender process. The project aims to attract tourists and, at the same time, contribute to the growth of the lion population in Udaipur by providing a natural environment for the lion couples. To ensure safety, tourists will be taken on guided tours in cage-like jeeps, and additional guards will be deployed in the area.
