Mock drill held at Fateh Sagar to prepare for floods during excessive rainfall
On July 10, 2024, a mock drill was conducted at Fateh Sagar under the direction of District Collector Arvind Poswal. The exercise involved the Army, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and Civil Defense teams. The aim was to test readiness for handling situations arising from anticipated floods or excessive rainfall during the monsoon season.
During this rehearsal, army personnel, NDRF, SDRF, and the Civil Defense Corps demonstrated measures to ensure public safety during floods and heavy rainfall. The team vividly demonstrated several rescue operations. This included rescuing people who drowned when a boat capsized during boating. Rescue teams showed prompt action by reaching the incident site quickly and using life-saving equipment to save the individuals.
Additionally, the exercise included deep diving to retrieve people submerged underwater and providing first aid. There was also a demonstration of flood rescue and relief equipment, such as boats and life-saving materials used to save drowning individuals. The practice drill also included real-life situations where people learned how to give basic medical care and share safety tips for dealing with floods.
