Navratna Riverfront Park Transformed by Local Residents Efforts
The residents of the Navratna Complex in Udaipur have completely transformed the Navratna Riverfront Park, located along the Ayad River. Until 2017, this one-lakh-square-foot area was overgrown with weeds and wild plants. However, the residents came together to improve the park and adopted it from the UIT. Using JCB machines, they cleared the space and named it Navratna Riverfront Park.
Group Formed for Park’s Maintenance
During the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020, members from around 10 societies in the complex formed a WhatsApp group to maintain the park. Over 2,000 residents, including school students, doctors, chartered accountants, businessmen, and fitness enthusiasts, became involved in the project. The Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) also helps by conducting cleaning and construction work in the park from time to time.
Saplings of Plants Planted
In the last five years, about 1,000 saplings have been planted, including varieties like Roses, Basil, Champa, Tecoma, and Palm trees, making the park more vibrant. With support from the Badgaon Panchayat Samiti and local philanthropists, a tube well and a pipeline were installed for irrigation. Donors also contributed to installing benches and swings for children. An open gym was set up on the recommendation of rural MLA Phool Singh Meena.
Dhyan Magri
A small hill in the park, now known as "Dhyan Magri" (Meditation Hill), has become a peaceful spot for yoga and meditation. The sound of water flowing from the nearby Ayad River and an old bridge adds to the park’s charm. There is also a Balaji temple within the park, making it a popular destination for the residents.
