Some chapters of History and Social Science have been dropped from the textbooks by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). Dislike of Hindu Extremists Organization for Mahatma Gandhi, the Mughal Era, as well as the Delhi Sultanate are included in the removal list. Many historians, academics, and other Indians are criticizing this action.  

Here’s the list of changes made:

The board has reportedly taken "King and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16TH and 17TH centuries)"-related chapters and topics out of "Themes in Indian History -Part 2" from 12th history textbooks, according to the sources. In the book “Politics in India Since Independence”, topics “Controversies regarding Emergency” and “Gujarat riots” were removed. 

Gandhi’s assassin Nathuram Godse background has been removed. Deletion of Islamic rulers history in India and chapters on US Hegemony in world politics and the Cold War has been removed. 

The history of the Mughal courts and battles will no longer be covered in class 12 textbooks for both the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and the Uttar Pradesh Board. Other significant sections of books on Indian history and political science have reportedly also been removed.

However, given that the entire syllabus has been reduced by nearly 20% since 2018, this is merely the most recent revision of textbooks produced by NCERT under PM Narendra Modi's government.
