35 New Anganwadi Centers to Open in Udaipur
State Government to Open 1,000 New Anganwadi Centers Across Rajasthan
Udaipur, November 27,2024 - The Rajasthan government will open 1,000 new Anganwadi centers across the state, increasing the total number of centers to 63,127. This initiative includes the opening of 35 new centers in Udaipur and 5 in Salumber, bringing the total number of centers in these two districts to 3,215.
Anganwadi Centers in Udaipur and Salumber
Currently, Udaipur has 2,333 Anganwadi centers, and Salumber has 842 centers. With the addition of new centers, these numbers will rise to a total of 3,215 centers in both districts.
The Women and Child Development Department began the process of opening these centers on November 19. Newly established Panchayats will have workers and helpers assigned to these centers. Budgets will be allocated for infrastructure needs such as rental spaces and government schools to accommodate the centers. Proposals related to this were sent between February and March, and they have been verified by the concerned division.
Challenges in Mid-Session Opening
According to the officials, CM Bhajanlal Sharma will inaugurate the 1,000 Anganwadi centers on December 14,2024. However, opening these centers mid-session raises concerns about finding children in the 3 to 6 age group to attend the centers. It is expected that only 5 to 10 children will attend initially. An official mentioned that if this decision had been made in June or July, the centers would have been more effective.
