The Rajasthan government has taken a significant step towards unlocking the tourism potential of lesser-known areas within the state. In a strategic move, the government has identified two locations each from the selected districts for development as new tourist destinations. This initiative is expected to bring about a transformative shift in the state's tourism landscape, offering visitors a diverse range of experiences, from the captivating deserts to serene hill stations.  

A total of 21 districts across Rajasthan, namely Alwar, Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bundi, Bharatpur, Banswara, Dausa, Dungarpur, Jodhpur, Jhalawar, Jalore, Jhunjhunu, Karauli, Nagaur, Sirohi, Bikaner, Chittorgarh, Hanumangarh, Jaisalmer, and Jaipur, are slated for the development of new tourist destinations. This ambitious undertaking comes with a budget allocation of Rs 70.06 crore and aims to enhance the tourism infrastructure and offerings in these regions.

Udaipur is already a tourist hub

August marked a historic surge in tourist arrivals for Udaipur, making it the busiest month of the year. Shikha Saxena, the Deputy Director of the Udaipur Tourism Department, emphasized that Udaipur continues to maintain its status as a premier tourist hotspot, drawing visitors from far and wide who seek to revel in its enchanting natural landscapes and tranquil lakes. However, this year in January, Udaipur recorded 180,000 domestic tourists and 14,215 foreign tourists.
