Panel To Probe 2021 SI Recruitment Exam Irregularities
Several trainee SIs were arrested for alleged fraud in the exam; Minister calls for its cancellation
A committee of six ministers will now make the decision on whether to cancel the Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Recruitment Exam 2021. Yesterday, October 1, 2024, the state government formed a panel of six ministers, led by Law Minister Jogaram Patel, to determine the fate of the SI recruitment. Concerns have been raised due to the absence of a set deadline for the committee to submit its findings.
Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar, Food Minister Sumit Godara, Tribal Development Minister Babulal Kharadi, Minister of State for Home Affairs Jawahar Singh Bedham and Minister of State for PWD Dr Manju Baghmar form the panel. The committee will be administered by the Home Department and its member-secretary will be the ACS of the Home Department.
A probe is continuing into large-scale irregularities in this recruitment exam which was conducted in 2021. Several trainee SIs have been arrested by the Special Operations Group (SOG) on charges of cheating, using dummy candidates and fraudulently passing the exam.
Cabinet Minister Kirodi Lal Meena has persistently accused the exam of fraud and has called for its cancellation. He recently held a meeting with the ACS of the Chief Minister to discuss this issue. Furthermore, the state government has requested legal guidance from the Advocate General on how to proceed in this case.
