UDA Plans Electric Boats for Fateh Sagar Lake
Boating in Fatehsagar Lake may start after June 2024...
UDA is gearing up to introduce electric boats in Fatehsagar Lake, following a similar initiative in Pichola Lake. The tender process for operating these boats is set to begin after the conclusion of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct, with tenders opening on June 6, 2024. Boating in Fatehsagar Lake may start after June 2024.
Initially, UDA had issued a tender on February 12, intending to operate seven electric boats near the Moti Magri memorial on Fatehsagar Lake. However, the tender process was halted due to the implementation of the Lok Sabha election code of conduct. A modified tender was subsequently issued on April 15, extending the application deadline to June 5.
If UDA succeeds in the tender, additional tenders will be issued for electric boats at Nehru Garden and near Bombay Market. Each of these points will operate seven boats, potentially exceeding the number of electric boats in Pichola Lake.
Meanwhile, Fatehsagar Lake currently operates petrol boats, with plans to phase them out after each tender issued by the municipality. Presently, 12 boats from the Mewar Boating Company operate in the lake, with a tender issued by UDA in 2019.
Udaipur Municipal Corporation is also under pressure to introduce electric boating in Pichola Lake promptly. However, the contracted company, Shiva Corporation and Coral Associates from Jaipur, is reluctant to start boating with only three boats due to potential financial losses. Despite this, the corporation aims to initiate boating with flexibility, possibly commencing operations with three boats.
