Plaster Falls from Ceiling at Government Primary School in Chandpura

No students were present at the time, as the school was closed for the Navratri holiday

A case of plaster falling from the ceiling has been reported at the Government Primary School in Chandpura, Gram Panchayat Sarera. Fortunately, there were no casualties in the incident.

On Thursday, October 3,2024 the plaster suddenly came off the ceiling of the school, which is in a dilapidated condition. Thankfully, no students were present at the time, as the school was closed for the Navratri holiday.

The school principal, Mukesh Kumar, noted that the building is old. Although some repairs had been made to the ceiling, iron rods are now protruding, causing further damage. The plaster was found lying on the classroom floor, where regular classes are conducted.

The principal stated that he had reported the building's poor condition to the Block Elementary Education Officer (BEEO) of Sarera and the Gram Panchayat. They have instructed precautions, but the school continues to operate in this building due to the lack of an alternative.

This incident follows another occurrence in August 2024, when a ceiling in a government school in Kotra near Udaipur collapsed. That incident injured a teacher and a student, and around 30 students were present in the classroom at the time.
