  • Ownership of a house with a suitable roof for solar panel installation.
  • Possession of a valid electricity connection.
  • Absence of prior subsidies for solar panels.

Process for obtaining subsidy

The steps to obtain subsidy through this scheme are as follows.

  • Enroll on the platform by submitting crucial information including your state, electricity provider, consumer ID, phone number, and email address.
  • Access the system using your consumer number and mobile number, then proceed to submit an application for rooftop solar using the provided form.
  • After feasibility approval, make arrangements for the installation of the solar panel through a registered vendor selected by you.
  • Following installation, provide plant details and request a net meter.
  • Upon installation and inspection of the net meter by the DISCOM, a commissioning certificate will be issued.
  • To receive the subsidy within 30 days, upload your bank account details and a cancelled cheque on the portal.

Those interested homeowners should commence by registering on the national website, pmsuryaghar.gov.in.

Following that, they can select the manufacturer and supplier of their choice for the rooftop solar system.The National Portal provides helpful tools like vendor ratings, benefits calculators, and recommended system sizes, assisting households in making informed decisions.

Implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.

According to the PIB release, the scheme off subsidy covering 60% of the solar unit cost fo systems up to 2 kW capacity and 40% for additional system costs for systems between 2 to 3 kW capacity.
