After the departure of cyclone Biparjoy from Rajasthan, the intensity of rainfall has decreased, giving way to lighter showers. However, this respite in rain brings with it the resurgence of the heat wave. The districts in western Rajasthan, which recently witnessed devastating floods, are now set to endure the discomfort of rising temperatures and humidity. The mercury is expected to soar to 40 degrees Celsius or even higher during the daytime. Nevertheless, relief is on the horizon as the rainy season is poised to make a comeback on June 24. 

Over the past 24 hours, the weather conditions have varied across different regions. While districts like Jaipur, Ajmer, and Bharatpur division experienced rainfall, the remaining areas remained dry. In addition to Nagaur, Churu, Jaipur, and Ajmer, yesterday's rain extended to Dhaulpur and Karauli in East Rajasthan. Notably, the highest amount of rainfall was recorded in Jawja, Ajmer, measuring 68MM.

On one hand, half of Rajasthan is grappling with floods and heavy rainfall caused by the cyclone, while on the other hand, residents in the northern districts of Rajasthan are enduring the scorching heat and high humidity. Yesterday, Ganganagar experienced a peak temperature of 43.9 degrees Celsius, adding to the discomfort of the local populace.

The region experienced a combination of intense heat and high humidity, creating an uncomfortable environment. This scenario was observed not only in Ganganagar but also in Bikaner, Hanumangarh, and Jhunjhunu. Churu recorded a temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius yesterday, with the relentless heat persisting throughout the day. However, in a welcome turn of events, the weather changed late in the evening, providing some relief from the scorching heat.

Yesterday, Bikaner reached a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius, while Pilani recorded 40.8 degrees Celsius, and Hanumangarh experienced scorching temperatures of 42.7 degrees Celsius. Alongside the heat, people in these cities also had to contend with high humidity. The atmospheric humidity levels ranged from 50 to 80 percent in most areas of these cities, further adding to the discomfort faced by the residents.

Heat will increase in western Rajasthan

The upcoming days are anticipated to bring dry weather conditions to western, northern, and southern regions of Rajasthan. In areas such as Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Jalore, and other districts of western Rajasthan, the temperature is projected to reach 40 degrees Celsius or even higher. As the heat intensifies, residents in these districts will also have to endure the accompanying humidity.

There will be moderate rain in eastern Rajasthan

According to Radheshyam Sharma, the Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Center, the weather forecast for June 22 and 23 in Rajasthan indicates predominantly dry conditions. However, in certain areas, there might be instances of light rain or drizzle accompanied by cloud cover in localized regions. Starting from June 24, a localized weather system is expected to form in certain parts of East Rajasthan, leading to the resumption of rain activities in that region from June 24-25. As a result of this weather system, isolated areas in districts such as Baran, Bharatpur, Bundi, Dausa, Dhaulpur, Jhalawar, Karauli, Kota, and Sawai Madhopur may experience rainfall accompanied by strong winds.
