In a proactive move on International Women's Day, Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari has approved a financial allocation of Rs 250 crore for various initiatives aimed at empowering girls in Rajasthan. The funds will be utilized for the construction of toilets, repair and maintenance of school buildings, with the primary objective of enhancing accessibility to quality education for girls.

As part of this initiative, financial approval has been granted to provide Rs 1,000 per student for essential educational items such as school bags, textbooks and uniforms starting from the next academic session. This benefit will extend to all students from Class one to eight in government schools, while female students from Class 9 to 12 will specifically receive this assistance, benefitting approximately 70 lakh students.

To further support girls in pursuing higher education, the government has sanctioned the distribution of 10,000 two-wheelers among female students enrolled in higher education institutions across the state.

In addition, the finance department has greenlit an increase in the amount provided under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandan Yojana from Rs 5000 to Rs 6500.

Recognizing the importance of gender representation in the police force, the finance department has also approved an increase in the reservation of women in police recruitment from 30% to 33%.
