Rajasthan Police: Using AI to Spot Criminals at Checkpoints

An app that scans database of known criminals within seconds...

In a groundbreaking move, the Rajasthan police have integrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance criminal detection at police outposts, barricades, and check-posts. This innovative approach leverages the RajCop Official mobile application, a tool widely used by police officers for various tasks.

The new AI-powered feature allows officers to photograph individuals suspected of criminal activity and instantly check their criminal history. Utilizing advanced facial recognition technology, the app scans a comprehensive database of known criminals within seconds. If the photograph matches any existing records, an alert is generated.

Sharad Kaviraj, Inspector General of the State Crime Record Bureau said that this cutting-edge feature is now accessible to police officers statewide. Since its introduction and successful testing phase, numerous criminals have been apprehended using this technology.

The process is straightforward: an officer takes a photo of the suspect and uploads it to the RajCop Official app. If the suspect has a criminal record in the Rajasthan police database, the app quickly matches the photograph with existing records and issues an alert. Furthermore, the app provides detailed criminal records, streamlining the process and enhancing efficiency.

This AI-driven feature marks a significant step forward in law enforcement, demonstrating the potential of technology in maintaining public safety and security.
