86 Rajasthan Railway Stations to Undergo Major Upgrade Under Amrit Bharat Scheme
Passengers travelling by train in Rajasthan can look forward to a major upgrade at 86 railway stations across the state under the Amrit Bharat scheme. Over the next two years, these stations will receive significant improvements to enhance passenger experiences.
The stations, served by the West Central Railways and North Western Railways, include major hubs like Udaipur, Jaipur, Ajmer, Sriganganagar, Kota, and Sawai Madhopur, as well as many smaller ones. The upgrades aim to modernize and improve amenities, including better waiting rooms, disabled-friendly facilities, improved seating, expanded parking, and new lifts and elevators.
Captain Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of NWR, stated that the redevelopment will also involve widening roads, removing unnecessary structures, and adding new features such as roof plazas, landscaping, children's play areas, kiosks, and food courts.
Renovations are underway at most stations, with a goal to complete the projects by the end of the financial year. For example, Udaipur's station is expected to be finished by December 2025, with designs reflecting the local culture and traditions.
