From November 4 to December 4, 2025, distribution and collection of household enumeration forms will take place. The draft electoral roll will be published on December 9, 2025. Claims and objections will be accepted from December 9, 2025, to January 8, 2026. The notice phase, which includes hearings and verifications, will run from December 9, 2025, to January 31, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on February 7, 2026.
According to the officer, as per the current 2025 voter list, the State has 5,48,84,827 voters, whose details will be verified by 52,469 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) through the enumeration forms. Of these voters, around 2.61 crore are aged above 40 years, and 77% of their mapping has already been completed. There are 2.88 crore voters below 40 years of age, whose mapping work is still in progress.
Mahajan added that instructions have already been issued to all Divisional Commissioners, District Election Officers, and Electoral Registration Officers. These instructions mainly concern reorganisation of polling stations, training of BLOs and supervisors, communication with political parties, media management, promotion of online form submission and publication of IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) material at the district level.
Training of BLOs, Volunteers and Help-Desk Staff
The Chief Electoral Officer shared that training for all BLOs and BLO supervisors has been completed, and refresher sessions will soon be organised. BLOs will record their daily progress, which will be monitored at the ERO, DEO and CEO levels. Training sessions will also be held for volunteers and help-desk personnel.
Participation of Political Parties and Media
Representatives of recognised political parties will be briefed through presentations on all aspects of the SIR. Discussions will also cover the appointment status of BLAs (Booth Level Agents) and the role of BLA-2, while encouraging greater participation to ensure fairness and transparency.
Mahajan added that media cells have been established at the district level. Regarding the SIR, only the District Election Officer (DEO) will act as the authorised spokesperson at the district level. Regular press releases and social media updates will be issued. Awareness campaigns will also be organised at schools, colleges and panchayat levels to promote online voter applications. Self-help groups and Rajsakhis will be engaged specifically to encourage women voters to participate.
Around 5,000 Calls Received Through “Book a Call with BLO”
Mahajan said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched the integrated ECInet app/website, which includes a “Book a Call with BLO” feature, allowing voters to directly contact their BLO for various information. Contact details of BLOs, BLO Supervisors, AEROs, EROs, Additional District Election Officers, and District Election Officers can also be accessed through the DEO’s website.
Ongoing Mapping of Current Voters with Previous SIR Electoral Rolls
The Chief Electoral Officer further mentioned that voter lists of all States have been uploaded on voters.eci.gov.in, and the link is also available on the CEO’s website. He explained that if a current voter’s parents or grandparents are listed in the previous SIR electoral roll, family linkage mapping is being carried out using verified familial relationships. This will minimise the need to collect physical documents from most voters.
Mahajan concluded that the ECI is committed to ensuring that this revision campaign remains transparent, inclusive and participatory, so that every eligible citizen can take part in the democratic process.
