Rajasthan's Agniveer Granted Martyr Status 

A martyr memorial is being built in Jitendra Singh’s name in his village
 

November 20, 2024 - For the first time, a Agniveer from Rajasthan has been granted martyr status. Agniveer Jitendra Singh, a resident of Nawalpura Morod village in Alwar district, was given this honour after a seven-month wait. On Monday, November 18, 2024, the administration handed over the martyr certificate to his family.

Jitendra Singh's Sacrifice

Jitendra Singh joined the army under the Agniveer recruitment scheme in 2022. He served in the Para Special Forces. Tragically, he was martyred in May 2024 after being shot in the head during a terrorist search operation in the Rajouri area of Jammu and Kashmir. 

The Commanding Officer, Colonel Tarun Dev, issued a letter declaring Jitendra Singh as a martyr. The martyr certificate was officially handed over to his family in Nawalpura Morod village in Alwar district on Monday. As part of the martyr's benefits, his family will receive the martyr package from the Rajasthan government. 

A martyr memorial is being built in Jitendra Singh’s name in his village. The family has already received Rs 2 crore from the central government and Punjab National Bank. Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has also assured them that the Kargil martyr package will be provided.

Jitendra Singh's Journey in the Army

Jitendra Singh joined the army on December 29, 2022. He was part of the 3 Para Special Forces and underwent special training in Bengaluru for a year. He was first posted to Jammu and Kashmir on February 29, 2024. On May 9, 2024, he was sent on a terrorist search operation in the Rajouri area, where he made the ultimate sacrifice.
