Hotel Association Calls for Revival of Gulab Bagh
Letter to Collector include suggestions to enhance greenery, promote library, conserve temples and stepwells
Udaipur, November 8, 2024 - The Udaipur Hotel Association has written a letter to District Collector Arvind G. Poswal expressing concerns over the deteriorated state of Gulab Bagh and asking for necessary steps to restore it as an attractive spot for visitors. A copy of the letter was also sent to Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash and Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani.
The letter, sent by the Hotel Association's president Sudarshan Dev Singh Karohi and vice president Yashvardhan Ranawat, includes 10 key suggestions for the revival of Udaipur’s historic Gulab Bagh, also known as Sajjan Niwas Bagh. These suggestions include enhancing greenery, improving pathways, promoting the library, developing a bird garden, and establishing a tourist information centre. The letter also appeals for the revival of the library and lotus pond within Gulab Bagh, the development of smaller sections of the garden with support from local business owners and the conservation of temples and ancient stepwells using traditional materials and techniques.
The Association believes these efforts would help Gulab Bagh regain its grandeur, thereby boosting tourism in the city and providing new opportunities for nearby businesses. Secretary Usha Sharma said these efforts would give fresh momentum to Udaipur tourism and benefit hotel owners. Ranawat has particularly emphasised these recommendations, which stem from his experience and work towards local tourism issues over the years.
