Udaipur: Delay in Khelgaon 200-ft road project
The project deadline has already passed by two months...
The improvement work on the 200-feet road from the New RTO Office to Sukher Main Road via Khelgaon is in progress and 80% of the project has been completed. Unfortunately, the project deadline has already passed by two months. A significant challenge has emerged near ESIC Hospital where an electricity tower has been installed on the hill by the roadside, causing a major obstacle in the construction process. This obstacle has resulted in a bottleneck, slowing down the overall progress of the road improvement project.
To resolve this issue and facilitate road construction, the removal of the electricity tower is necessary. However, this task is anticipated to take approximately two and a half months. The delay caused by the tower's presence is being addressed to ensure the timely completion of the road improvement project.
It looks like the project might be finished 5 months later than expected. Once the road work is done, the traffic from Nathdwara will go straight to Pratapnagar Road via Khelgaon. This will lessen the traffic on Sukher and Bhuwana bypass.
The Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) is busy improving a 5-kilometer-long road. They are using a 7-meter concrete surface for both sides of the road, with a two to three-meter divider in the middle. The whole project is budgeted at Rs 8.96 crores. Notably, UDA released tenders in January 2023 and work orders were given on February 16, 2023. The deadline for finishing the work was November 15, 2023.
