Salumber Readies for Bye Election on Nov. 13

Voting will be held across a total of 302 polling stations including 296 main booths and six auxiliary booths

 

Salumber, November 12, 2024: Voting for the 2024 Legislative Assembly by-elections will be held tomorrow, November 13, from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm across a total of 302 polling stations in the Salumbar Assembly constituency, which includes 296 main booths and six auxiliary booths. As per the Election Commission's guidelines, campaigning ended last evening.

Under the guidance of Udaipur District Collector and District Election Officer Arvind Poswal, all preparations for fair and peaceful voting have been completed. The final training for polling teams will take place today at the Government Fateh Higher Secondary School campus in Surajpol, and from there, polling teams will depart for their assigned booths.

Deputy District Election Officer Dipendra Singh Rathore informed that a total of 363 polling teams, including reserve teams, have been formed, each consisting of a presiding officer and four personnel. Additionally, sector officers and micro-observers have also been appointed. The final training session for the polling teams has begun from 7:30 am this morning at the Fateh School campus. Following this, personnel will collect EVM-VVPAT machines and essential materials from Counter No. 1 and bags and other supplies from Counter No. 2. After the polling concludes, teams must return the materials to the designated counters. Separate counters have been set up for distributing materials to sector officers and micro-observers.

During the voting tomorrow for the Legislative Assembly by-elections, mobile phones will not be allowed inside polling stations. Only presiding officers and micro-observers will be permitted to carry mobile phones in silent mode.

Poswal said that,according to the Election Commission of India's guidelines, candidates’ authorised polling agents, voters, media personnel, and any other individuals will not be allowed to bring mobile phones to the polling centres. Voters can cast their vote using the voter ID card issued by the Election Commission of India. If the voter ID card is unavailable, any one of the 12 alternative documents can be shown for voting:

In the absence of a voter ID card, a voter can use any one of the following documents: Aadhaar card, MGNREGA job card, bank or post office-issued photo passbook, health insurance smart card issued by the Ministry of Labour, driving license, PAN card, smart card issued by the Registrar General of India, Indian passport, photo pension document, government-issued photo ID (by central/state government or public sector), authorised ID card for MPs and MLAs, and unique disability ID card issued to persons with disabilities.

The final online randomisation of personnel assigned to polling teams was conducted yesterday in the presence of Poswal, Election Observer J. Vijaya Rani and Rathore at the NIC VC Hall. IT/Personnel Cell members Mazhar Hussain, Chandraveer Singh Chauhan, Dr Mahamayaprasad Choubisa, Dr.Pranay Joshi, Lokesh Vyas, and NIC Udaipur software team members Manglesh, Vishwaraj, Debanshu, Vikas, and other personnel were also present during this process.
