School Principal and Teacher Suspended After Stabbing Incident at Udaipur

Investigation on the role of the school administration and staff in the unfortunate event
 

Taking cogniscance of the fallout of the stabbing incident in Udaipur on 16 August the State Education Department has suspended the Principal of the Government Secondry School at Bhatiyani Chohatta. The Principal, Isha Dharmawat has been supended as per a department order on 20 August and her headquarter will be the Directorate of Secondary Education, Bikaner pending further investigation. This action was taken by the office of Ashish Modi, IAS, Director of Secondary Education, Bikaner, under Rule 13(1) of the Rajasthan Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1958.

Further, Mahendra Kumar Jain, the CDEO, Udaipur Division, has placed senior teacher Rakesh Kumar Jaroli under APO and sent him to the office of the Chief Block Education Officer (CBEO) at Bhainsrodgarh, Chittorgarh. He is also under departmental investigation in connection with the incident.

Earlier, after the incident on 16 August, when a Class 10 student of the school stabbed his classmate, resulting in his death 3 days later, the District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal had also written a letter to the Department of Education, highlighting his concern on the carelessness of the school administration and demanded that necessary action by the department be considered.

The department, on 17 August has also issued an order banning the presence of pointed or sharp items in school bags. These items would include but not limted to knives, nail cutters, scissors, etc.
