Sewage Contamination in Kumharia Pond, Udaipur
A serious problem for aquatic ecosystem...
Tara Chand Jain, having contested elections with a primary focus on concerns such as lake conservation, has now shifted his focus towards addressing a critical issue – sewage pollution in Kumharia Talab (pond). One of the pressing challenges he is actively addressing is the alarming levels of sewage contamination in Kumharia pond situated at Amba Pol Gate,Udaipur. This pond, once a serene water body, is now grappling with the detrimental effects of pollution caused by improper disposal of sewage.
Upon receiving information about sewage overflow, Tara Chand Jain promptly conducted an on-site inspection at the Ambapol-based pumping station. Accompanied by officials from the Municipal Corporation and Smart City, the visit aimed to assess the situation and address the pressing issue.
During the inspection, discussions ensued among the officials regarding the immediate need to halt the flow of sewage water through the road leading to the pond. Recognizing the severity of the problem, they delved into deliberations on identifying a permanent and effective solution to mitigate the sewage pollution issue.
Officials mentioned during the cleaning process that there is an overflow of water due to a blockage in the sewer line. Additionally, they reported difficulties in laying the line to the pumping station. MLA Jain emphasized the need to accelerate the pace of the work and advised that similar complaints should not arise in the future. Tej Shankar Paliwal from the Lake Conservation Committee was also present on this occasion.
