Udai Sagar Lake’s development will prevent tourists crowd in Udaipur city

Udai Sagar Lake is set to undergo development, mirroring the enhancements seen at Fateh Sagar, Goverdhan Sagar, and Pichola Lake. The Tourism Department has formally communicated with the Urban Development Authority (UDA), outlining proposed initiatives for the lake's improvement. The suggested enhancements encompass various activities, including concrete fencing along the lake's shores, installation of decorative lights, introduction of floating fountains, and the facilitation of boat operations. These measures are aimed at transforming Udai Sagar Lake into a more attractive and engaging destination.
As of now, tourist attention is predominantly centered around urban areas. However, with the development of Udai Sagar Lake, tourists will soon have a new and appealing destination in close proximity to the city. This initiative not only promises to enrich the tourism experience but also contributes to the overall aesthetic and recreational value of Udaisagar Lake.
Shikha Saxena, Deputy Director of the Tourism Department, has emphasized that the establishment of a new tourist destination will ease the burden on city tourists. This not only extends the duration of tourists stays but also generates employment opportunities for local residents. Furthermore, it plays a significant role in fostering the growth of eco-tourism.
Udaipur is notable for drawing in over a lakhs tourists each month. However, during the peak tourist season, the area around popular tourist spots experiences a considerable challenge such as traffic congestion. This congestion poses a significant issue, hindering the overall experience for both tourists and locals alike. To address this, the strategic development of new tourist destinations is proposed.
The envisioned development of Udai Sagar Lake promises to give rise to several attractions, including Bagdara Nature Park (a Crocodile Reserve Park), Jagat Ambika Temple and Jaisamand Lake.
Udai Sagar Lake is located merely 2 km away from the Debari Highway. Despite this proximity, the current tourist influx to the area remains relatively low, primarily attributed to the absence of essential amenities. Addressing this limitation is crucial to fully unlock the tourism potential inherent in the picturesque Udai Sagar Lake and its surrounding attractions.
