Udaipur Doctors Support SMS Hospital's Resident Doctors Strike
Pregnant woman denied admission leads to doctors suspension and protests
An incident happened on April 2, 2024, at Kanwatia Hospital in Rajasthan, where a pregnant woman was denied admission, resulting in her giving birth near the hospital's gate. Three doctors, namely Kusum Saini, Neha Rajawat, and Manoj, were subsequently suspended. Additionally, a show cause notice was issued to Kanwatia Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rajendra Singh Tanwar for alleged supervisory negligence in the case.
In response to the suspension of the three doctors, resident doctors in Udaipur also boycotted work on April 12,2024. They demanded the withdrawal of the decision against the suspended doctors, supporting the ongoing strike in Jaipur.
The suspension sparked protests among resident doctors who claim that the case was not properly investigated. They argue that action was taken solely based on the allegations made by the pregnant woman's relatives, without considering their side.
Doctors in Jaipur allege that the state government's actions are unilateral and unacceptable. They stress the need for a fair and thorough investigation into the incident.
Resident doctors have issued a warning that the strike will persist until all three suspended doctors are reinstated.
