Udaipur Acquires 4 New Fogging Machines to Combat Mosquito-Borne Diseases

Fines imposed for negligence in cleanliness

Mosquito-borne diseases have become a serious concern for Udaipur residents. In response, Udaipur Municipal Corporation has launched new measures to control the spread of these diseases. One of the key steps includes purchasing four new small fogging machines to carry out fogging in narrow streets and hilly areas. This initiative aims to prevent mosquito breeding in these locations, and fogging will soon begin.

Ongoing Fogging Operations

Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash stated that after completing the first and second phases of fogging, the third phase is currently underway. Several parts of the city have already been covered in this phase. Special attention is being given to areas where the health department has received a higher number of complaints about mosquito-borne diseases.

Fines for Negligence in Cleanliness

On Monday, October 21, 2024, fines amounting to Rs 21,500/- were collected from 59 locations where negligence in cleanliness was observed. The Municipal Corporation is taking strict action against those who fail to maintain hygiene. It’s important to note that more than 800 cases of dengue have been reported in Udaipur so far, along with a rise in chikungunya cases.

Special Instructions for Mosquito Control

To combat mosquito-borne infections, Municipal Commissioner Ram Prakash has issued special instructions to Health Officer Satyanarayan Sharma, Health Inspectors Narendra Shrimali, and Subhash Sharma. He emphasized that no negligence in cleanliness will be tolerated. Establishment owners are required to ensure proper sanitation, especially in areas where food is sold in the open. Strict action will be taken against those who allow water to accumulate in items like barrels or pots.

Daily Efforts to Prevent Larvae Breeding

Commissioner Ram Prakash also informed that the health department is actively working to prevent mosquito larvae from breeding by applying MLO medicine in empty spaces and water-filled pits. Sector officers have been instructed to oversee these efforts, and daily cleaning of open drains is being carried out to maintain hygiene.

Appeal to Residents

Mayor Govind Singh Tank, Commissioner Ram Prakash, and Deputy Mayor Paras Singhvi have once again appealed to the residents of Udaipur to prevent water from accumulating in or around their homes. They advised regularly changing the water in coolers and ensuring that water doesn’t collect in flower pots. They stressed the importance of following government guidelines to avoid mosquito-borne diseases. Residents are urged to take precautions, as several areas are experiencing the spread of these infections.
