A group of entrepreneurs from Udaipur and Dungarpur approached the Rajasthan High Court in Jodhpur to request the inclusion of a fuel surcharge in the electricity bills issued by Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Nigam. In response, the High Court has granted a stay order, providing temporary relief to the entrepreneurs. Madhu Mehta, the wife of Rohit Mehta and a resident of Ashok Vihar in Udaipur, along with Lilaram Trivedi, the son of Milind and a resident of Bichiwada, and others, approached the Rajasthan High Court regarding this matter.

He filed a petition in the High Court of Jodhpur, naming the Principal Secretary of the Energy Department of the State Government, the Chairman of the Rajasthan Electricity Regulation Commission, the Managing Director of Ajmer Vidyut Nigam Ajmer, the Additional Engineer of Bichiwada, the Assistant Engineer of Dungarpur, and the Additional Chief Engineer at Headquarters Ajmer as parties to the case.

The petition stated that the Electricity Corporation included a fuel surcharge in the electricity bills, which was deemed unjust and unfair. The petitioners requested relief in this matter. In response, the High Court issued a stay order in favor of the petitioners, temporarily halting the implementation of the fuel surcharge. 

In this case, entrepreneur Rohit Mehta stated that an additional fuel surcharge of 7 paise per unit was levied for a period of 60 months, despite the existence of an earlier fuel surcharge. Currently, the fuel surcharge has been imposed on all industries, and the industries have already paid for the goods sold a year ago. Mehta expressed that the imposition of the fuel surcharge has caused significant difficulties for the industries.
