Udaipur's Koftgiri (Metal Art) got GI tag from the Central Government

Five traditional arts of Rajasthan awarded Geographical Indication (GI) tag by the Central Government

 

In a significant move, the Central Government has bestowed the prestigious Geographical Indication (GI) tag upon five traditional arts hailing from Rajasthan. This recognition promises to breathe new life into Udaipur and Rajsamand revered Koftgiri, known for its metal craft, as well as the intricate Pichwai art. These art forms, already globally renowned, are poised to gain enhanced prominence in the times to come. Joining the league of world-famous traditional arts, Jodhpur's Bandhej, Bikaner's Usta art, and the mesmerizing hand embroidery art have also secured the coveted GI tag. This strategic move by the government is set to pave the way for these arts to attain international acknowledgment.
