Udaipur Railway: City Station is Set for Major Transformation
Amrit Bharat Station scheme...
In 2024, a significant milestone project is set to be completed in Udaipur. Udaipur City Railway Station will be transformed into an airport-like facility, with an investment of Rs 354 crores. The project is scheduled for completion by November 2025, signaling a significant step forward in the city's infrastructure and transportation capabilities.
In addition to the railway station upgrade, there is another noteworthy development underway. The renovation of Rana Pratap Nagar Railway Station is currently in progress under the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, with an estimated cost of Rs 20.9 crore. This initiative aims to transform the station's appearance, marking a notable change after nearly 125 years.
Udaipur Railway Station
The City Railway Station is set for a transformation with multi-storey buildings planned on both sides. A spacious rooftop plaza covering 5200 square meters will enhance the overall area. Each gate will have its own parking facilities, complete with electric vehicle charging stations.
The upgraded infrastructure will feature CCTV rooms, chambers for all officials, including management, an executive lounge, and a dedicated baby care room. Additionally, washrooms, a food court, and a waiting hall capable of accommodating 1000 people on each side will be part of the development. Elevators and escalators will be strategically installed to improve accessibility.
Rana Pratap Station
Presently, the entry and exit at Rana Pratap Nagar Station are limited to the Thokar Chowk side. A new three-story building is underway, oriented towards Kanpur-Mandi Road, featuring separate entry and exit points as well as parking facilities.
Despite a daily footfall of 6,000 passengers, the station lacks a substantial waiting hall. To address this, a spacious waiting hall is being constructed on the second floor. The development plan encompasses a 12-meter wide foot overbridge, the installation of elevators, and an elevation of the platform for enhanced accessibility.
