Udaipur Ranks 15th in Air Quality Management Survey
Jodhpur and Jaipur rankings are poor in the state...
In the recent Swachh Vayu Survekshan 2024, Udaipur secured the 15th spot among cities with populations between 3 lakh and 10 lakh. This survey, conducted by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), evaluated cities based on their efforts to improve air quality.
Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Kota performed poorly in the category for cities with populations exceeding 10 lakh. Jodhpur ranked 34th, Jaipur 37th, and Kota stood at the 42nd position.
The rankings were based on steps taken to control pollution, as submitted on the PRANA portal. Jodhpur’s final score was 152.5, while Jaipur scored 144.7, and Kota 128.6 out of 200.
Officials clarified that the rankings reflect the actions taken by cities to improve air quality, not the current air quality levels.
“The rankings are not based on measurement of air quality but on actions taken by cities to improve air quality in different domains and the improvements resulting from these steps. This dosen’t mean the air quality in Udaipur is inferior to that of the cities with better ranking.” - An Official said.
