The District Road Safety Committee convened at the Collectorate Auditorium under the direction of District Collector Arvind Poswal and was chaired by Additional District Collector Administration Deependra Singh Rathore. The meeting focused on various proposals aimed at enhancing the traffic system in Udaipur.
Traffic System Model at Delhi Gate Intersection
The committee proposed developing the Delhi Gate intersection as a model for the city's traffic system. This initiative aims to streamline traffic flow and improve overall traffic management in Udaipur.
Sensor-Based Cameras and E-Challan System
To ensure vehicle owners comply with traffic rules, the committee discussed installing sensor-based cameras and implementing an e-challan system similar to Jaipur.
Permanent Pencil Dividers on Fatehsagar Road
In the previous meeting, experimental pencil dividers on Fatehsagar Road received positive feedback for improving traffic management. The committee decided to make these dividers permanent, citing their effectiveness.
Addressing Bottleneck at Swaroop Sagar Bridge
Deputy Superintendent of Police Traffic, Netrapal Singh, highlighted the need to address the bottleneck beyond Swaroop Sagar Bridge. ADM Rathore instructed a joint inspection to explore solutions for opening the bottleneck and presenting a detailed report.
Removing Pencil Divider at Court Chauraha
An issue was raised regarding the creation of an unofficial parking area due to a pencil divider at the corner of Chetak Circle Road. The committee decided to remove this pencil divider to prevent further parking issues.
Review of Previous Tasks
The meeting also reviewed the progress on previously approved and directed tasks, ensuring that all measures are effectively implemented to improve the city's traffic system.

Construction of Flyover
The Municipal Corporation has confirmed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of a flyover from Delhi Gate to Court Chauraha and towards Ashwini Bazaar is ready. Additionally, they have filed a petition in the High Court seeking approval, with the hearing scheduled for 20 August, 2024. Regarding the widening work at Sukhadiya Tiraha, the Municipal Commissioner has informed that the task of relocating the wall behind Sukhadiya Samadhi has been successfully completed.
Relocating Electrical Transformer
Ajmer Discom has made the necessary deposit for relocating the electrical transformer. The relocation will be finished by 20 July, 2024. As for the proposal to construct a sleeper lane within the railway boundary near Rana Pratap Railway Station, there has been no positive response from railway authorities. Consequently, the Additional District Magistrate (ADM) has instructed to convene a meeting in the upcoming session to discuss the matter with railway officials.
Night Market on Bus Stand
Progress on establishing a night market on the bus stand was also discussed in the meeting. It was revealed that the previous tender process had failed, prompting a reissue of tenders. Additionally, discussions were held on other points including the Green Mobility Zone program and road widening and modernization up to NH 8 from Sisarma.
