The India Smart City Awards Contest 2022 has been unveiled as part of the Government of India's Smart City Mission. These prestigious awards are scheduled to be presented in September. Organized under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, the Smart City Mission aims to recognize urban innovation. During a video conference, the Joint Secretary and Mission Director announced that Udaipur Smart City Limited has secured an impressive total of 3 awards. Additionally, the state of Rajasthan has achieved the third position in the State Award category.

Udaipur Smart City Company on first position

According to Krishnapal Singh Chauhan, the Additional Chief Executive Officer of Udaipur Smart City Company, the city has achieved the top position in the North Zone category at the national level. He also highlighted that Udaipur city secured the third position nationwide in the governance project for the Smart City App. In 2016, Udaipur was selected as one of the 100 cities in India to participate in the Smart Cities Mission, as stated by ACEO Krishna Pal Singh. A substantial budget of Rs 1000 crore was allocated to the Udaipur Smart City initiative. This program focused on 10 distinct themes and identified a total of 111 projects.

Among these initiatives, an impressive 108 projects, amounting to Rs. 808 crore, have been successfully completed. Krishna Pal Singh highlighted that Udaipur Smart City demonstrated exceptional performance in the North Zone category. The city maintained its previous year's ranking and secured the top position among cities with a population of less than 10 lakhs. The diligent execution of projects under the Smart Cities Mission adhered to strict timelines and emphasized high-quality outcomes.

As a result of these achievements, Udaipur outperformed other cities to secure this prestigious position. At the national level, Udaipur attained the third position in the governance project for the Smart City App. This app serves to furnish the city's residents with information about public amenities and offers tourists swift and enhanced details about local tourist attractions. In the Partner Award category, specifically in Infrastructure, L&T clinched the top spot as the Outstanding Partner of the Udaipur Smart City Project. It's noteworthy that the mission's tasks are slated for completion by June 2024, adhering to the specified deadline.
