Unnoticed mountain cutting continues for days at Debari, Udaipur
Mining Department deploys guards...
Upon receiving news about illegal mining activities on the Tulsi Das Ji's Sarai, located on Debari Road, the local administration swiftly took action. A team from the Urban Development Authority (UDA) promptly inspected the site and compiled a detailed report. Simultaneously, the mining department responded by deploying guards to deter further instances of illegal mining. However, the most pressing concern remains the fact that these illegal mining operations had been ongoing for a substantial period without any intervention or action from either the administration or the mining department.
On November 7, 2023 a news article was published. The article brought to light the illegal mining activities taking place in Debari along the Tulsi Das Ji Sarai Road. These explosive activities were significantly disruptive, causing disturbances to the sleep of local residents. In response to this news, during the afternoon, a team from the mining department promptly arrived on the scene and took action by deploying guards to the site, aiming to curb further illegal mining operations.
At the same time, UDA's Revenue Inspector along with a police force, reached the location. The team confirmed that mining operations had been suspended at that moment. They proceeded to inspect the site and were in the process of documenting revenue records for each of the individual plots.
It seems that in response to the High Court's strict directives and media coverage, the relevant commissioner had temporarily halted construction activities. However, there has been a lack of substantial action taken against those engaged in illegal hill quarrying. Despite administrative restrictions, they persist in extracting resources from the hills, often taking advantage of outdated approvals.
So far, there have been no legal proceedings, penalties, or revocations of construction permits against the individuals involved in these illicit activities. Furthermore, administrative officials have not held those accountable for permitting hill quarrying within their jurisdictions.
