Jamnagar, March 4, 2025: On the occasion of World Wildlife Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the animal conservation center ‘Vantara’ in Jamnagar, Gujarat. Vantara is a dedicated center for the conservation and protection of wildlife. The Prime Minister spent considerable time at the 3,000-acre facility, inspecting its world-class amenities for animals. Vantara has been established as an initiative of Anant Ambani, son of renowned industrialist Mukesh Ambani.

Upon his arrival at Vantara, the Ambani family welcomed the Prime Minister in a traditional manner. The inauguration ceremony took place amidst the resonating sounds of conch shells, Vedic chants, and folk performances. PM Modi also participated in a prayer ritual at the temple on the premises.

During his visit, the Prime Minister inspected the multi-specialty hospital designed specifically for animals. He observed the live demonstration of advanced diagnostic equipment, including CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, and endoscopy. He also showed keen interest in the ICU and operation theater facilities available for animals. A dedicated nursery for newborn animal cubs has also been set up at Vantara. PM Modi appreciated the dedication and hard work of the staff working at the center.

The Prime Minister observed cubs of Asian lions, white lions, and the rare and endangered clouded leopards. He personally fed white lion, tiger, and rhino cubs with his own hands. The center houses several endangered species, including the Asian lion, snow leopard, and one-horned rhinoceros.

PM Modi also got a close view of several rare and dangerous animals such as the golden tiger, white lion, and snow leopard.

At the vast Vantara facility, each animal is provided with a habitat tailored to its needs. It includes sections like the Kingdom of Lions, Kingdom of Reptiles, Kingdom of Seals, and a Cheetah Breeding Center. However, the biggest attraction is the "Gajanagari," an elephant sanctuary spread over approximately 1,000 acres. This sanctuary houses more than 240 rescued or ailing elephants. These elephants, many of whom have suffered neglect and mistreatment, receive world-class veterinary care and rehabilitation at Vantara. The center also boasts the world's largest elephant hospital, equipped with facilities such as water pools and even jacuzzis for the elephants' well-being.
