Education Department: Workbooks not reaching schools

Teachers face notices

In the academic year 2023-24, the Education Department has aimed at delivering remedial classes in Hindi, English and Mathematics for students in Grades 1 to 8. To facilitate this, workbooks were scheduled to be distributed to every school by September 30.  Regrettably, it has come to attention that many Hindi and English medium Government schools have not yet received these workbooks as intended. In response to this situation, the Education Department is currently notifying teachers to provide information on book distribution.

In fact, workbooks for various subjects for Classes 1 to 8 have not been distributed to several Hindi medium schools, as well as some Mahatma Gandhi English medium schools. Nevertheless, instructions have been issued for students to engage in these activities during the first three periods on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Teachers in Mahatma Gandhi School have reported this challenge. Children and educators in this area have been eagerly waiting for workbooks for an extended period. The unavailability of these workbooks is preventing teachers from sharing information online, causing significant distress. Furthermore, the Education Department is issuing notices to the teachers in response to this situation.
