World Tourism Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm in Udaipur
World Tourism Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in Udaipur on Friday, September 27,2024. The Tourism Department organized various events, including a heritage walk and performances by folk artists, which attracted many participants.
The theme for this year’s World Tourism Day, set by the United Nations, is “Tourism and Peace.” To align with this theme, a heritage walk took place in the Old City area from 7:00 to 9:00 AM. Both domestic and foreign tourists joined the event, along with local citizens and members of the Guide Association.
The heritage walk began at Jagdish Chowk and passed through Lal Ghat, Gangaur Ghat, and Daiji Ki Pulia before concluding at Ambrai Ghat. Participants learned about the city’s rich heritage during the walk. The theme of peace resonated with the tourists, who took part with great enthusiasm. Local delicacies like “Rabri Kachori” were also offered to the participants.
Traditional Welcome for Tourists
From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, tourists were welcomed in a traditional manner at Saheliyon Ki Bari, Jagdish Chowk, and Ahar Museum. This event was organized in collaboration with various Guide Associations. Folk artists performed the Kachhi Ghodi dance and puppet shows, enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Entry to Jagdish Chowk and the Ahar Government Museum was free for tourists, with approximately 150 to 200 visitors exploring the museum during this time.
Tree Plantation and Drawing Competitions Held
Deputy Director Tourism Department, Shikha Saxena announced that the next series of events included a tree plantation drive at the Government Hotel Management, Udaipur at 4:30 PM. A drawing competition was also organized at this event. Another drawing competition took place at the Government Upper Primary School in Kaya village, Udaipur, where winners received prizes from the department.
Special Tours for Orphaned Children
On this special occasion, 23 children from the Government Orphanage enjoyed a free tour of various tourist spots in the afternoon. The toy train ride at Gulab Bagh was particularly exciting for them. The children also visited the Fish Aquarium, Bird Park, and Saheliyon Ki Bari, making it a memorable day.
