IND vs ENG 4th Test: Gill on Pant’s Fitness

After scan reports showed no serious injury, Pant is expected to return for the crucial 4th Test starting July 23 in Manchester

 

July 15, 2025 - Indian captain Shubman Gill has shared an update on Rishabh Pant’s injury. Pant got injured during the Lord’s Test. After the match, Gill spoke at the press conference and said, “Rishabh went for scans, and there is no sign of any serious injury. He should be fine before the next Test.”

Gill’s statement will surely bring relief to Indian fans.

Pant's Injury

Pant got injured on the second day of the third Test match. He dived to his right to stop a ball bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. During the dive, he hurt himself and had to leave the field. He did not do wicketkeeping after that. Dhruv Jurel took over as the wicketkeeper.

Pant came out to bat in the second innings but could only score 9 runs before getting out to Jofra Archer.

India Lost by 22 Runs

Talking about the match, India lost to England by 22 runs. India had to chase a target of 193 runs but got all out for 170 in the second innings. With this defeat, India is now trailing 1-2 in the five-match Test series.

Fourth Test in Manchester

The fourth Test match between India and England will be played in Manchester from July 23. The Indian team will hope that Pant recovers fully and is ready to play. His presence can help India level the series 2-2.

England Leads 2-1

England won the first Test in Leeds by 6 wickets. Then India made a strong comeback in the second Test at Edgbaston, winning the match by 336 runs and making the series 1-1.

The third Test at Lord’s was a close match. In the end, England won and took the lead again in the series.
