141 Countries, 650000 km...The Pinders From Australia Are Not Stopping Any Time Soon

Travelers across the world pursue their passion in many ways. Some are happy with domestic travel, some explore tourist destinations in countries closer to home and a few adventurous ones explore the unfrequented places and travel the whole world.

Australian couple, Lynda and John Pinder have travelled 141 countries and have covered more than 650,000km. They have been this kind of travel in their 4x4 camper truck "Global Roamer" for over two decades.

While touring India now, the couple reached Udaipur on Friday, September 6. They parked their camper at Fatehsagar and spent the night there. In a detailed interaction with UdaipurTimes, John explained the entire genesis of their exploration.

John shared that their tryst with journeying around the globe began from Singapore, where they took their first truck and travelled across countries in far east Asia, which included Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia among others and then through the Middle East, Africa to European countries.

Their second part of the journey began in Peru 6 years ago, with a new truck, making their way up and down South America. They travelled to the United States and Canada, and are now completing the last stretch of their journey. they have been in India over the last six months.

"Dont be afraid, have a go, as it is the journey and not the destination. We love to travel, to meet people, we believe that every body have a journey and we love to hear everyone's journey" - John's message to wannabe travellers...

John said that their home on wheels is an impressive utilitarian vehicle that is capable of riding over any terrain, and it also offers the basic comforts of home. Mounted over the cab is a set of Moose horns and the license registration plates and flags of various countries suggesting that the machine is moving forward and nobody can stop it. John said that they have travelled across more than 140 countries covering around 650,000 kilometers so far.

John further said that "It's not the destination, but the journey, as we want to live our lives at the fullest, meeting people, sharing experience with them. We have three children who take care of our real estate business in Australia and we use the rental income to fund our travel".

When asked about their experience in India, John said that they are enjoying the experience here. They find the food in India very hot and spicy, however, the people here are very welcoming, helping and nice whereas in a few African countries the people used to demand money from them. Speaking about their entry into India from the Mundra port, John said that the customs department process was very time consuming, but the people in the teams were very polite.

He added that when in South America, they had a sore experience in Bolivia, when someone threw dynamite on their truck. However, the general perception they had of people in Bolivia was very positive. He explained that they rarely visit tourist spots in the countries they visit and their journey is mostly through the common country side and such places that link them to the culture of the place they visit.

Going forward, John and Lynda are getting a new truck built in Germany and they will continue their remaining journey in the new truck and the current one was getting worn out after so much of travel.
