Hyderabad academician dies after fatal acccident at Balicha on 16 Feb

 

Professor Bhavani Aadimulam, aged 40 years and resident of Tapovan Ashram in Udaipur, met with a fatal accident today morning.

The accident, which occurred today morning at Balicha Bypass, took place when Professor Bhavani lost balance of her two-wheeler, causing her and her daughter to fall on the road. The moment they fell on the road, a speeding truck coming from behind crushed her to death. Her daughter, though, escaped with minor injuries.

Professor Bhavani, who was  Hindi instructor at Hyderabad University, was presently working with Shikshanter and residing at Tapovan Ashram at Balicha. She was involved with Shikshanter in the areas of education and spreading awareness on zero waste and the environment. She had just left home  and was driving with her daughter from Tapovan to Shikshanter at Fatehpura, when this fatal accident happened.

Professor Bhavani, who has been a proponent of Hindi language in the south, was also the founder of Aksharavani, which was setup in the premises of the Hyderabad University, to provide education to the children of the many labourers who work within or near the University. Professor Bhavani, who was the Hindi instructor at the Hyderabad University Study in India program then, joined hands with Ethan Geringer, an exchange student and set up Aksharavani in April 2011.

Police are conducting their investigations on this hit and run case. The dead remains of Professor Bhavani have been kept at the mortuary in MB General Hospital, and her family back home in Hyderabad have been informed.
