You spent the whole of your childhood reading books. From learning first alphabets to compeleting your graduation, you read so many books, but with the objective of learning syllabus and merely passing exams. This has created a bad perspectice regarding books that they are boring. The reason is that during this whole time you were reading for learning purpose and not for recreation.

Nowadays, we are surrounded by disquetness. We are worried about what is happening at our work, home or even in our country. Social media and news channels are pouring stressful news. In such a time, reading books can be relaxing. Reading a book requires a level of consideration. You need to be disconnected from other disturbing things, which serve as a kind of meditation for the mind.

In the 11th century, a Japanese woman known as Murasaki Shikibu wrote “The Tale of Genji”, a 54-chapter story of courtly seduction believed to be the world’s first novel. Nearly 2,000 years later, people the world over are still engrossed by novels — even in an era where stories appear on handheld screens and disappear 24 hours later.

Reading fictional book may take you to an imaginary world where you can spend some time out harsh real world, while reading a biography about famous people or some inspiration book may inspire you to achieve something you were considering impossible whole of your life.

Tim Cook, CEO of Apple Inc began work for Apple in 1996 when they were at the lowest point in their company’s history, having lost $1 billion the previous fiscal year. Cook is credited with reorganizing the company’s manufacturing operations. The book that had the greatest effect on Cook, is Competing Against Time, by George Stalk Jr. and Thomas M. Hout. The book is about time management.

Jeff Bezoz, the richest person in the world according to Bloomberg and CEO of Amazon, the world's biggest online book store, considers that Remains of the Day had the biggest effect on his life. Interestingly, it is not a bussiness book but a novel by Kazuo Ishiguro. The plot revolves around his work and his undying love for a housekeeper who used to work at the manor with him. Bezoz said he loved the book because he thought it was impossibly perfect. He did not know someone could actually write something like that.

Likewise, You are Born to Blossom by Former President  Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is considered one of the most relevant books in today’s age of ‘Digital India’; this literary gem is a must read for people involved in the Information Technology and Communication Field. The book has a lot in store for people who want to weave the digital threads of India to make India progressive with the other nations of the world.

You may choose which kind of book you want to read. But instead of checking social media feeds before sleeping, reading one or two hours on daily basis can bring some considerable changes in your life. "Take a good book with you, books do not snore", Thea Dorn.

So what is the book you are going to pick next for reading? Do comment.
