Taj Lake Palace, Udaipur was voted as the best hotel in Asia in The Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers’ Travel Awards 2016. Readers ranked the hotels globally on dimensions such as service, design, culture and value for money.
Taj Lake Palace secured an overall reader rating score of 92.64 to top the Asian geography. It was ranked 6th in the global ranking. Eden Rock, St. Barth’s topped the global ranking with a reader rating score of 94.73.
As per details on the magazine, questionnaires were posted at cntraveller.com from 3 March to 5 May 2016. The results were collated and analysed by an independent market-research company called Market Management. The 25 categories for nominations and the criteria by which they were judged are listed in the October issue of Condé Nast Traveller.
Taj Lake Palace has 83 rooms include some opulent, individually designed suites. The property hosts a Jiva Spa, an outdoor pool, Jacuzzis, open-air restaurant, Bhairo and more formal Neel Kamal.
For history lovers, the property was built in 1746 as a pleasure palace of Maharana Jagat Singh II. The property was initially called Jagniwas or Jan Niwas after the Maharana.
