Global Dreams: Udaipur Couple's Journey to Australia Post

Venktesh and Pooja Dave transform their tech-driven beginnings in Udaipur into a thriving community-focused business in Dubbo, Australia

Udaipur, July 21, 2025 – From a modest cyber café in Udaipur’s Kalaji Goraji to delivering mail across Sydney — Venktesh and Pooja Dave’s incredible journey is a true tale of grit, growth and global dreams come true.

Venktesh Dave, who spent 10 years in Udaipur running a cyber café in Century Market, moved to Australia in 2008 and was since then searching for a venture that would keep him closely connected with community services.

Born in Beawar, Venktesh did his PGDCA from University of Rajasthan, Jaipur. He is also the recipients of several certifications such as Cisco CCNP and Red Hat Engineer, Microsoft Professional and AWS solution Architect. From 2007 to 2008 he had worked for BIG 92.7 FM as Station Engineer in Udaipur before moving to Australia.

After moving Down Under, Venktesh worked with Australian Stock Exchange (ASX) listed Macquarie Southern Cross Media as broadcast engineer in Queensland State of Australia; Tabcorp Ltd. (ASX) listed, as broadcast IT engineer in Sydney and with Stockland Ltd. (ASX) listed as Cloud Operations engineer in Sydney.

But deep down, he knew the corporate grind wasn’t his calling.

“I was just working, working, working, and then I thought it is time for me to start something,” he recalls.

What truly fuelled both Venkatesh and his wife Pooja was a shared dream — to do something meaningful, rooted in community service. So, they started searching for a path that felt more personal, more purposeful.

And then Australia Post came along!

A golden opportunity arose when Australia Post went up for sale. The previous owners – sisters Janelle and Leanne – were calling it a day after 11 years. Venktesh and Pooja grabbed at this chance with both hands, knowing it was the right choice. And now, they want to give it their all!

Venktesh says, “I always love to work with community, in community and for community. I was president of youth association in Sahastra Audichya Samaj, when I was in Udaipur...was cultural secretary of LBS college Jaipur during my student life”.

Buying Australia Post has been a dream come true for the couple.

“Australia Post is having great reputation, strong trust and more connectivity in community. This allowed me to decide to buy Australia Post franchisee”, says Venktesh, adding “I found that Australia Post is the best way to connect with the community and help people.”

“Australia Post has organised extensive training for us. The staff will be appointed and we will be working as a partner franchisee of Australia Post.”

This business is in Dubbo, NWS, and serves in different sectors apart from Post, like banking, Forex and specialised retail community services.

“We have found the Dubbo people to be so kind and generous,” say the couple explaining the underlying reason which earlier made them decide to move to Dubbo with their eight-year-old son Adamya.

Pooja shares the excitement for this new chapter. Inspired by the warmth of the previous owners, she is eager to welcome customers into the close-knit Dave family of three — turning every visit into a friendly connection.

Janelle and Leanne have been “very, very helpful” showing Venktesh and Pooja the ropes with unwavering support and have promised to stick around through the entire transition, making sure the handover is smooth and stress-free.

Speaking of the sisters, Pooja says, “They are a great team, and you can see that in how the customers respond to them… after 11 years every customer is like a family member.”

Looking ahead, the Dave duo is aiming to recreate the same comfort, a just-as-healthy environment and that unbeatable level of support.

With strong roots in community service and a global dream realised, the Dave family is ready to deliver connection, care and commitment through their new venture.
