Salumber Elections: First phase of home voting begins
A total of 79 voters including 65 senior citizens and 14 specially abled persons cast their votes from their home
Salumber, November 4: The first phase of Home Voting of the Salumber Assembly By-elections 2024 started from Monday 4 November. Home voting teams reached the houses of elderly and disabled voters and got them to vote while taking full care of the secrecy of the vote.
The General Observer inspected the home voting process. Voters expressed happiness on getting the opportunity to vote from home and thanked the entire team of the Election Commission and the district administration.
Returning Officer Salumber said that on the first day, against the target of home voting of a total of 80 voters including 66 senior citizens and 14 specially abled, a total of 79 voters including 65 senior citizens and 14 specially abled exercised their franchise. Thus, 98.75% voting took place on the first day.
Training of teams
The teams formed for home voting were trained at Udaipur district headquarters under the guidance of District Election Officer (Collector) Arvind Poswal. In the training held in the presence of Deputy District Election Officer Dipendra Singh Rathore, state level master trainer Dr. Mahamaya Prasad Choubisa trained the teams on the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, precautions required for home voting, secrecy of vote, pre-poll and post-poll reporting etc. The team included one MO, one PRO, one PO-I, one policeman and one videographer. After the training, the teams left for the allotted areas.
Voting in remote areas
The first phase of home voting started on Monday. In the first phase running till November 8, teams will go door-to-door to conduct voting of Divyangjans above 85 years of age and Divyangjans with more than 40 percent disability who have opted for home voting. Voters found absent in the first phase will be given an opportunity in the second phase to be held on November 9 and 10. Voters who remain absent in both the phases will not get the opportunity to vote. They will not be able to exercise their right to vote even by going to the voter booth.
683 voters identified
A total of 683 voters will vote under home voting in the assembly constituency of Salumber, out of which 588 voters of 85$ category and 95 voters of disabled (more than 40 percent) category will vote at home through postal ballot. On the first day, teams went door to door in Behuti, Udaipuriya Jagir, Vejpur, Nimboda, Sagatda, Badavali, Loda, Dal, Namchot Dal, Seria Kantoda, Badgaon, Kareli, Karavali, Salumber, Khodav and Agatiya and got the identified voters to vote.
On Tuesday, November 5, teams will conduct home voting in 124 areas across Salumber constituency.
